Questions worth asking before you build
Wireless systems reassure in demonstrations and during the first year. The problems arrive with time: devices drop off the network, sensor batteries fail in places no one can reach, firmware updates break integrations, radio traffic from neighbouring properties causes missed commands. A wired core on the selected platform is built into the electrical infrastructure before walls close. It does not depend on radio, batteries or cloud connectivity to function.
Yes — it is the normal way we work. Keypad positions, socket types, speaker grille locations, sensor placements, panel cut-outs and rack dimensions are coordinated with the designer and architect before walls close, so that technology sits naturally within the interior rather than competing with it.
After engineering design, because that is the only honest basis for a number. The design stage produces the documented scope. That scope is then priced for equipment, cabling, distribution and rack build, programming, commissioning and site supervision.
It depends on the stage of the build. If walls remain open and first-fix electrical has not been signed off, there is usually scope to add or correct cable routes. If walls are already closed, a retrofit remains possible for many functions — at greater cost and with some compromise.
Commissioning verifies every circuit, zone, scenario and integration against the documentation, followed by a handover session in which the household is trained on the interface. A fine-tuning visit after the first weeks of real living is standard.
Yes — and they usually are. A wired core can be accessed through mobile apps, voice assistants and any custom interface the client prefers. The distinction is that wired infrastructure continues to function when the Wi-Fi is down or a cloud service changes its API.
Both. Existing-system work falls into two categories: audit and remediation of a system that does not perform reliably, and partial or full upgrades that add capability to an existing infrastructure.
